I suppose I need to keep posting on this page, also. It's tough to have oh-so-many blogs. Then there's this minor detail known as work...
Work is incredibly busy right now, being that they've hired two new fundraisers, which means I need to find all the prospects for these people to go out and visit. As one might imagine, people with lots of money don't just fall out of the sky. Don't I wish.
This weekend was an adventure! On Friday night, we caught a midnight matinee, which I know doesn't seem like an adventure but trying to get through the Starkville moviegoing crowds was a challenge, as is staying up til 3AM. Then the next morning it was up to go to the produce barn, where I bought butternut squash that I need to use. We stopped by to fetch my friend Janice and she told us about free canoe usage at the wildlife refuge. B had to finish a big paper, unfortunately, but I jumped at the chance and Janice and I headed to Bluff Lake at Noxubee Wildlife Refuge.
Oh, it was gorgeous. Definitely the prettiest place I've seen in Mississippi. I wish I'd taken the camera. It was a fabulous fall day, no clouds in the sky, a perfect blue lake. And the alligators, of course. Yep, we almost paddled into two of them. Had a bit of a heart attack, especially since I don't have the best canoe skills. But they didn't try to eat me and even three days later I remain grateful.
On Sunday I learned to ride the scooter. Yes, I was trying to save you all from worrying but we have a scooter now. Try not to worry, it only goes 35MPH and it will never be driven at night or in the rain. Besides, I was slightly apprehensive driving it at 25. 25 feels a lot faster in a scooter than in a car.
More adventures this weekend. B bought his Insight, finally, so we're flying off to Maryland to pick it up and then drive back as fast as possible for class and work on Monday. But I get to pick up two new states! It's definitely going to be a crazy trip, crashing a hotel, taking advantage of the Baltimore/DC metro system (subway surfing, anyone?), buying a car, navigating DC, seeing a pal briefly, camping in the smokies, driving back to collect the other car, barely sleeping.
But there will be Target and (cross fingers) good food.
