Just Another Lazy Day Afternoon

Well, haven't posted in awhile...I bet you all know what this means. That's right: No running. Ay...isn't this what often happens? I try to start a fitness program and poof it falls flat. It's never worked for me to get up and exercise, why did I think it would happen now? But I'm still going to try. I promise. Anyway, we bought bikes this weekend, so once my helmet arrives and we fix the gears on my bike (B was thrown off yesterday, which of course makes me reluctant to ride) I'll be biking to work and other locations. Still, this doesn't mean no running for me. I still want to do it.

So Amy (this would be B's mom, not my auntie) and I were talking this weekend about homeschooling and challenges and other general subjects that come up about children/teenagers. I mentioned that my aunt (the other Amy) is also a homeschool mom, and that I thought she had links to blogs on her blog. Of course I am wrong in this, so auntie, if you check homeschool blogs (and I could've sworn I'd seen them referenced in your blog) could you send me the links?

Now Amy's asked about finding a blog or website for nutritional and exercise info for her youngest son. C's 11 I believe, and the only one of her children that is not long and thin. The thing is, he swims, and he eats the same way the other ones do. And before you ask, he was born at home so the child was not switched at birth. Anyway, I tried to check around for some blogs but it is hard to find specific info in blogs! I keep getting news feeds and things of that nature. So if anyone could point me the right way I'd be quite appreciative.

All this brought up an interesting thought in my mind though...I wondered if I could give the correct answers. OBVIOUSLY I'm not trained, but I see this as sort of a hobby of sorts. And I have so many magazine "fun facts" stored up from over the years. My thought is really that they need to make it a class. Learn about nutrition, keep a food diary, keep a record of workouts and display that in a prominent place where others can say well done if you do your workouts . But more than that--note connections. Write down your attitudes and your mood that day to see if it connects with the food. C's a brilliant kid. He shouldn't have trouble with this. The thing is to connect your brain with what it is you are eating (here in the states we are so removed from our food, but at their house they bake their own bread, even grinding (?) the wheat, so they're a bit more connected) and with the way you feel when you move.

Does that make sense at all?

In happy Kirsten news: Took the GREs. 650 verbal...and 650 math!!! Crazy. The same score in math. Then again, I studied math and didn't study my verbal, so that explains it. Stay tuned for news on where it'll take me.
We're headed out for happy hour to celebrate...and so B can do "research" for a class project. Nice research!

Kirsten, homeschoolblogger.com is the site you need. It is all homeschoolers all the time. It is a great place to go and read about all sorts of theories of homeschool and the like. Yeah, I know it is almost 2 a.m. I am such a freeeeak!
